What involvement have you had with competitions?: 

I have participated in WorldSkills competitions in St. Gallen, Helsinki, Japan, Calgary and am now involved in  London.

Who would you like to thank for their support?: 

Keith Stanley, Professor John Huber, Chris Nurse, Will Torrent, Alistair Birt,  Keith Marley, William and  Suzue Curley, Benoit Blin, Ernst Bachmann and Gary Hunter.

What made you take on this role?: 

The opportunity and challenge to help young people to realise their potential and dreams.

Why do you think WorldSkills is important?: 

It drives skills to higher levels and presents them to them to the world, whilst expanding networking opportunities worldwide.

What do you enjoy most about your role?: 

Huge pride in the competitors and the lasting friendships which develop. The pride continues post competition when the competitors excel in their careers.

How has this year differed to WorldSkills Calgary 2009?: 

This year has been totally different from the last competition in that the competitor works at a highly esteemed establishment where he constantly receives cutting edge training from his workplace mentor Benoit Blin.

How are you using this experience in your workplace?: 

The enrichment of the development of products and skills naturally transfer into my teaching role

What do you think being part of this process does for young people?: 

It hones their skills and confidence immensely, and opens millions of doors for them.

What sets a WS competitor apart from your average young person?: 

Discipline – they have the professional ability to organise a set of tasks and administer them magnificently.

What would be your message to industry about entering future competitions?: 

Do it – it can only be of benefit and enhancement to the whole workforce and establishment.

What impact will WorldSkills London 2011 have on your industry?: 

It will highlight the overall disciplines and standards possible in patisserie and the artistic finesse achievable and hopefully encourage more people to venture into patisserie.

What are your personal achievements: 

Two fantastic children!
