Why do you think WorldSkills is important?: 

I think it is the standard all training organisations should be aiming for and the best method of bench marking your organisation.

What do you enjoy most about your role?: 

As a new Training Manager I am waiting with an open mind to see how the role develops, but working with the young people and watching them develop is a big plus.

How are you using this experience in your workplace?: 

It’s early days yet but some of the methods and packages used to manage and qualify the young people such as moodle and the NVQ qualifications are very interesting.

What do you think being part of this process does for young people?: 

The offer to aim for a goal in life that may otherwise may pass you by, which not many people can or have the opportunity to achieve.

What sets a WS competitor apart from your average young person?: 

The dedication and effort the young people put into their work resulting in achieving an exceptional standard.

What would be your message to industry about entering future competitions?: 

If you’re brave enough to benchmark your training and trainees come and give it a go.

What impact will WorldSkills London 2011 have on your industry?: 

I think it will highlight the standard you’re working to and should be aiming for. Hopefully it will generate an infectious approach to improving skills across the UK.

What are your personal achievements: 

My apprentices have won the Workforce Development Awards 3 years running.

Something we didn’t know about you...: 

I am a member of the Asparagus Growers Association.
