'Like father, like son' is justified when it comes to Stuart and his choice of career; his interest in welding came from his father who has been in the welding industry for over 20 years.

Stuart discovered skills competitions through his employers who actively encourage their employees to participate. In preparation for WorldSkills 2007 Stuart will compete against international opponents in welding competitions held in Ireland and the USA:

Stuart will weld components, structures, plates, pipes and tanks using a variety of welding processes dependent on the materials provided.
