Profile

When Julie took a part-time job as a waitress in her local restaurant she immediately enjoyed the appreciation of satisfied customers.

From that moment on the world of hospitality appealed to Julie and she decided to study hospitality management at college. She found that competing in skills competitions provided the opportunity not only to meet like-minded people but also to maintain her competitive spirit:

"Taking part in skills competitions is a real confidence-building exercise. I thrive on competitions because I always aim to complete tasks to the best of my ability."

Julie is delighted to represent the UK at WorldSkills 2007, and is ready to embrace the opportunity that the competition offers: "Getting this far has shown me that people take what I do seriously, and I'm looking forward to bringing new skills back to my workplace."

In her spare time Julie enjoys playing the guitar and piano, and socialising with friends.
