"I haven’t been this excited since I opened my own beauty salon. Competing at WorldSkills 2007 is a great opportunity to showcase my skills and maintain the UK’s strong reputation in beauty therapy."

Profile

Like many young people Jade was unsure about what she wanted to do after finishing secondary school. By chance she saw an opening on a beauty therapy course at Lincoln College and decided to enrol:

"I have always been interested in beauty therapy and the course was great. Beauty therapy helps to relieve stress and makes people feel confident about themselves which I find very rewarding."

Coincidentally, Jade also became involved in skills competitions whilst at college:

"The beauty department at college regularly holds in-house competitions. During one particular competition a competitor was unable to participate and I agreed to be the late replacement. I've been competing ever since."

Jade believes that the new techniques and experience gained from competing in skills competitions has been useful in the successful running of her business.

In her spare time Jade enjoys jogging, socialising with friends, family and her boyfriend.
