Graham's ambition to become a fully qualified chef began at an early age when his grandmother taught him the pleasures of home cooking. Since then Graham has enthusiastically continued his training through to college level.

Always eager to improve upon his cooking skills and learn new techniques Graham began to participate in skills competitions:

"Competitions are a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and learn from them. The benefits are that you can transfer what you have learnt into your job."

Graham will prepare for WorldSkills by competing in further UK competitions, completing tasks set by his training manger Peter Joyner, and working in different restaurants under their head chefs to develop a wide range of new techniques and skills. Graham includes Martyn Nail, the Executive Chef at Claridge's, and the chefs he works with as his role models due to their dedication to their work and their passion about food:

"There is great pressure on the chefs to maintain high standards, but there is always a healthy atmosphere within the kitchen. The chefs are always happy to share their knowledge and provide support."

In his spare time Graham enjoys cooking at home, experimenting with different recipes and cooking methods, reading and spending time with his girlfriend.
