Competition Automobile Technology Age 20 Qualifications Apprenticeship Hometown Ashton-Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester Training Provider The Honda Institute Training Manager Paul Cooper
"I am thankful to UK Skills and all of the training mangers, especially Paul Cooper and Ian Eustace, for giving me the support and opportunity to compete at WorldSkills 2007."
Profile
Dan has always felt at home working with his hands and knew that his future lay within a 'hands on' career. His interest in cars began as a young boy, helping his grandfather who always repaired his own cars.
After completing high school Dan enlisted on an Automotive Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship at The Honda Institute in Slough:
"The Honda Institute opened my eyes to the complexities of automotive repair. It was a great experience to learn new skills using the very latest developments in automotive computer technology."
During his training Dan started entering skills competitions and found that they provided useful experience in coping within a pressurised environment.
Dan hopes the training and experience gained from competing at WorldSkills will take him a step closer to achieving his ambition of either becoming a race team mechanic or running his own motor racing garage.
In his spare time Dan enjoys playing rugby and he coaches a local under-16s team.
