May 21, 2009Joe Massie, 21, from Huyton, Liverpool, who works at Fishlocks Florist and is training for WorldSkills Calgary 2009, has today been awarded the title ‘RHS Young Chelsea Florist of the Year’ at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. He receives the award after achieving the gold medal for his work designing a flamboyant floral hat, which took 30 hours to make and in which Joe competed against thirteen other young florists.
30 more skilled young people selected for UK skills squad at prestigious event to discuss the role of skills today
February 3, 2009The final 30 members of Squad UK have been announced today (3rd February), with the hopes that they will be ready to take on the very best in the world at the biggest skills competition ever - WorldSkills Calgary 2009 - which will take place in Canada in September. The new squad members were announced at a special event at Canada House, Trafalgar Square, which celebrated the success of the squad so far and went on to highlight the importance of skills in the UK.
