What made you choose this career?: 

From one week of work experience at school, I enjoyed being part of a busy team with new things happening every day. Also enjoyed working with flowers because of the experience I had gained by helping my mum arrange flowers in her vase.

How did you hear about competitions? : 

My college tutors encouraged me to try something different.

What are your biggest personal achievements so far?: 

Completing level 4 in floristry. Getting through to the national final as well as achieving a place on the short listing event.

What’s your ambition?: 

To be the best I can be and hopefully compete at WorldSkills London 2011.

What are you hoping for by competing for a place at WorldSkills London 2011? : 

To learn as much as I possibly could whilst having fun on the way and making myself proud.

What do your family and friends think about you competing?: 

They are all extremely proud of me and support me in every way they can.

What would you say to other young people considering a vocational career?: 

Try something new, you never know until you’ve tried it.

What do you think getting involved in international competitions could do for your career?: 

Learn lots about how other countries use techniques and can interpret criteria. I think it will push my career further by pushing me.

Something we didn’t know about you...: 

Slugs, snails and worms freak me out.
