What made you choose this career?: 

I didn’t want to go to university, I wanted to make money straightaway.

How did you hear about competitions? : 

My college lecturer had done them when she was at college and thought I would be good at them and enjoy them.

What are your biggest personal achievements so far?: 

Getting 2nd place in the nationals and gaining an outstanding achievement award from the college.

What’s your ambition?: 

To win Gold at WorldSkills and travel the world.

What are you hoping for by competing for a place at WorldSkills London 2011? : 

To improve in as many ways that I can in as many things and absorb as much as I can.

What do your family and friends think about you competing?: 

They are so proud of me, which bounces back and gives me even more drive to do more.

What would you say to other young people considering a vocational career?: 

Do it and take as much in as you can, take every opportunity that you can.

What do you think getting involved in international competitions could do for your career?: 

Make yourself known, open loads of doors and put yourself above the rest.

I used to play the piano and reached grade 5.
