What made you choose this career?: 

Realised I enjoyed working with my hands as well as the theory side of engineering in school.

How did you hear about competitions? : 

My electronics lecturer made me aware of it, it sounded very interesting as well as potentially adding to my CV.

What are your biggest personal achievements so far?: 

Biggest achievement would be getting to UK final of Mechatronics. In sport, I won a national medal in rugby.

What’s your ambition?: 

To complete my training and become a chartered engineer as well as getting a master’s degree in engineering.

What are you hoping for by competing for a place at WorldSkills London 2011? : 

To learn different things about myself whilst also in the process, learn how different countries approach my skill. Finish as high as I can at competition and strive to win a medal for UK.

What do your family and friends think about you competing?: 

They seem to be very excited and proud whilst also being very hopeful for me.

What would you say to other young people considering a vocational career?: 

You would enjoy your work immensely whilst picking up valuable life skills. Go for it!

What do you think getting involved in international competitions could do for your career?: 

This will greatly help my future career prospects when applying for jobs. Also meeting new people and making new contacts in the industry.
