What made you choose this career?: 

I believe engineers shape the world we live in and I wanted to be part of that, creating and working with new technologies.

What are your biggest personal achievements so far?: 

Won Gold in the National WorldSkills UK Electronics 2008
Won Best Northwest Aerospace Apprentice Award
Completed my Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award
Completed a Powered Gliding Course Completed RYA Level 3 in Sailing

What’s your ambition?: 

I would like to one day become a managing director, travel to every continent in the world and complete a private pilot’s license.

What do your family and friends think about you competing?: 

More than pleased, they know how hard I tried for the Calgary team in 2009 and I have their every support for the training to compete at the WorldSkills London 2011 event.

What would you say to other young people considering a vocational career?: 

Vocational careers open so many doors when it comes to having qualifications and experience the two key factors for getting any good job. Learning the job alongside the practical skills will enhance the experience and make you more saleable.

What do you think getting involved in international competitions could do for your career?: 

I hope it will advance me by five years and in the short term help my career progression. It will set me up for life with the experience and training behind me I can go on to do any skill area what ever it be. The wealth of knowledge gained from the involvement will help me to go on to attain a degree in electronics engineering.
