What made you choose this career?: 

I enjoy working on practical projects and joinery is a very useful skill.

How did you hear about competitions? : 

I heard about the competitions through college. I got involved to improve my skills and hopefully represent the UK.

What are your biggest personal achievements so far?: 

Winning WorldSkills UK regional and national competitions and getting through to Team Selection for WorldSkills Calgary 2009.

What’s your ambition?: 

To do well and represent the UK then become self employed and to fit high quality joinery.

What are you hoping for by competing for a place at WorldSkills London 2011? : 

I am hoping it will help me in my career and open up a lot of new opportunities.

What do your family and friends think about you competing?: 

They are proud but it is hard to explain it to them.

What would you say to other young people considering a vocational career?: 

Do it because you earn money while you learn and you are more likely to have a job.

What do you think getting involved in international competitions could do for your career?: 

I hope to always have work and be successful.
